BRIEF OUTLINE: Students try to balance the object on their body part while practicing the corresponding vocabulary.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Body Part flashcards
  • A small beanbag per group (not too full). This can easily be substituted with a small and light item.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Review body parts.
  2. Divide the class into teams. 4-6 people per team is the best.
  3. One person from each team gets a beanbag.
  4. The teacher/ALT yells a body part. The students with the beanbag have to balance the beanbag on the body part and walk to the goal. If they drop the beanbag before the finish line, they have to return to the group and try again.
  5. If students are holding onto the bean bag as they are walking, they are out.
  6. Points are awarded to the team that finishes first.
  7. Once all the students get to the goal, they will return to their group and the next student in line will do the same thing.
