BRIEF OUTLINE: Students collect all the colors by walking around and talking to each other.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • 10 business card-sized color cards per student.
  • Sort each color into 10 card piles and tie a set of colors together with an elastic band.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Give each student a pile of ten cards with the same color.
  2. Students find a partner.
  3. Student A says "(color) please." Student B gives Student A the color and says, "(color) please." Student A gives student B the color and both students say, "Thank you, Goodbye."
  4. The goal is to collect every color.
  5. To make the game last longer, stop the game and tell the students to collect the same color cards.

VARIATIONS:

  • Introduction Meishi: Use the color cards as business cards in a self introductions class.
  • Use this game with:
    • What color do you like/want? I like/want...
    • What`s your favourite color?
  • Students can play janken and only the winners get the card. The goal is still try to collect the most cards.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • Create a scenario where you pretend to be sad because you only own one color. With the HRT, show students that the more cards you collect, the happier you'll get. Then show students that you want to collect different colors.

TIPS/CAUTIONS:

  • This game is good for elementary school grades 1, 2 and 3. It is not competitive so nobody loses and gets upset!
