BRIEF OUTLINE: Students' aim is to be the last man standing.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • A list of places they want to go.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Teach the students "Where are you going?"-"I am going (to)(the)___________."
  2. Have them write 10 real places.
  3. Have the class ask a student "Where are you going?"
  4. The student answers "I am going (to) (the) _____________."
  5. The other students check their sheets if they have written down the same answer. If they have, they have to cross it out.
  6. The student left with the most answers wins.
  7. Read the student`s answer.

VARIATIONS:

  • World map if they are going to do countries.
  • School layout if they are doing about the school. (Check School layout game)
  • If they (6th grade) are using Hi Friends, they can connect it to lesson 5 (Eigo Noto lesson 6).

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • It helps if you pre-teach
    * Where are you going?
    * I am going (to)(the) ______________.

  • Give them homework to write down 10 real places.

TIPS/CAUTIONS:

  • Avoid using imaginary places or places from anime.
  • When to use, and when not to use (to)(the), eg: I am going home
