BRIEF OUTLINE: Students chose cards from the blackboard to gain the most happy points.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Print out the three examples in the attachment. Put the places at the front and the happenings on the reverse then laminate. If you have adhesive magnets attach these or use regular magnets. If you would like extra samples please ask.
  2. First teach the names of the locations and randomly place the cards on the board with the place showing.
  3. Then divide the classes into about three of four groups and make somebody the leader.
  4. The students will have a brief discussion where is the best place to go.
  5. The leader will then ask the other members. Where do you want to go?
  6. Each member will then vote on where to go. I want to go to the park. I want to go to the zoo. etc.
  7. The leader will then decide where to go. Lets go to the park.
  8. The card is then turned over to reveal how many happy points the group gets.
The group with most points at the end wins.

VARIATIONS:

  • Can also be used to teach. "Lets go" to younger classes.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • If you have some plain places cards. These also can be used. Just toss a coin to decide whether its a good or bad happening and ask the students for ideas.
