BRIEF
OUTLINE: Students listen to clues from the teacher's and complete the word search.

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Divide the students into teams.  Give a printout to all the students.
  2. Tell all the teams hint number one.  All the students should find the answer in the word search.
  3. As the teams finish, one student from each team should go to the JTE or the ALT to get the next hint.  
  4. They need to remember the hint and go back to their team and tell them the hint.  As a team they find the answer in the word search. 
  5.  When they all find it, the next student should go ask for a hint.  
  6. When a team has finished finding all the words, they have to find five more words, in the word search, from the story, An Artist in the Arctic.
  7. After, using the words they found, the students have to write five hints.  They must show the ALT or the JTE the hints.  First team to do everything wins.


 

VARIATIONS:

  • There are fifteen hints given.  The students don`t have the hint sheet.  You can choose how many hints to give.
  • As a group, the students shouldn`t need to use their textbook.  But if need be ...
