BRIEF OUTLINE: Students listen to their partner’s instructions and attempt to draw a replica of a bedroom.





  • Student A & B both receive a copy of their respective BedroomDrawing and BedroomDrawing1 worksheets.
  • Copy A and Bs' respective sheets double-sided so that student A’s picture is on the back of student B’s worksheet and vise-versa.



  1. First, review prepositions, then, have the students form pairs.
  2. Give each student in the pair an A or B worksheet.
  3. Have the students janken; the loser winner listens to their partner’s instructions and tries to draw a duplicate of the bedroom scene within the black rectangle on their own worksheet.



  • Instead of having the students break into pairs, you can make this into a listening-only exercise and have all the students draw both pictures while you/JTE dictate the bedroom scene.
  • If you only want to practice reading, put the picture on the back of the explanation page. Then, have the students draw what they read. When they are complete, they can check their drawing with the picture on the back.



  • At the end of the activity, students were a little confused when they turned the page over to find their drawing didn't match the drawing on the back. This is because the drawing on the back corresponds to the description given to their partner. This was done so the student who was drawing wasn't tempted to cheat:
