BRIEF OUTLINE: A group game where students take turns calling out stations and giving directions while trying to win points.




  1. Each student needs a worksheet and each group 1 set of the station cards. For as many people who are playing in your group (3,4,5,6) you will only use that many of the stations listed on the worksheet. For example, if you have 3 people in your group, everybody in your group crosses out 3 of the same stations, and the remaining 3 stations are the only ones that you will use for this game. The crossed out ones are out of play. You also put the cards for the stations that have been crossed out off to the side, because you won't use them. (If you put students into groups of six, you dont have to do any of that because there are 6 cards, one for each student. If you have a group of five, only 1 card is crossed out.) Now pass out the remaining 3 cards (if you are in a group of 3) face down to each player. Everyone can look at their card after it is passed out, but it shouldn't be shown to the other players.
  2. The group jankens. The winner says the first line, "Could you tell me how to get to (station name)?" They must choose any station which isn't there own, and hasn't been crossed out. The person who is holding the station's card that the student said, says, "Sure, take the next train to (station name), and change trains there." Again, this student can't say their own card. They must say one of the stations which are in play. The person who is holding the station card that the previous student says, takes a dice and rolls it and says, "It's (rolled number) stops from here." They then count the rolled number clockwise from the person next to them and the person that it lands on gets the rolled number of points.
  3. Students then put all of their cards back in the middle of their desks, shuffle them, and re-distribute them. They then complete the same cycle.
