BRIEF OUTLINE: Students apply their knowledge of the days of the week to a listening task.

  • FridayImInLove worksheet.
  • Copy of The Cure's song Friday, I’m in Love (not included)

  1. Revise days of the week and write them on the board (or use flashcards).
  2. Play the song through once.
  3. Hand out the lyrics and read through them as a class.
  4. Play the song through once and students fill in the days of the week.
  5. Check the answers.
  6. Sing the song through as a class.

  • Students could work in pairs or groups.
  • Some steps could be omitted and could be made into a warm-up task.
  • After doing this activity in class, I discovered using the entire song was too difficult for my class.  Instead, we did one verse, rehearsed it and sung it.
