BRIEF OUTLINE: Students read a passage in the past tense and use logic, reading comprehension, writing, and math to complete the activity.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. After giving A & B worksheets to alternating rows, give the students about 5 minutes to read their passage and match the pictures to words and prices. They can only match 2 prices on their own.
  2. Have students work in A-B pairs. They can each share their 2 answers. To figure out the remaining two, they must read carefully and use some math.
  3. Students answer the questions on their 2nd page. Check answers as a class.
    4. The answers are: hat-1,000 / dvd-3,000 / cd-2,000 / pants-4,000 / shoes-2,000 / tshirt-4,000.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • Make sure to explain to the kids that they will need to do some math, otherwise they might be baffled. Also make sure they know that they'll need to work with a partner.
