BRIEF OUTLINE: A competition where students make "too ~ to~" sentences from a corresponding board in order to score points.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Have the students make pairs and give each pair one worksheet.
  2. The pair plays Janken. The winner chooses a square and has 10 seconds to make a sentence appropriate to the square. The loser counts down. If the winner cannot make a sentence the loser gets an opportunity (also on a 10 second time limit).
  3. The winner is the student who has the most squares at the end of the game

VARIATIONS:

  • The grid can also be used for Tic-Tac-Toe.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • To ensure that the students are making correct sentences you can ask them to write for their opponent. If they don`t make a correct sentence, their opponent doesn`t put their move on the board.
