BRIEF
OUTLINE: HERE

Students match superlatives to pictures, then guess the country. Afterwards, they make a presentation introducing one of the countries.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

1. The class is split intro groups of 4-5.

2. Each group is given an envelope containing the 5 pictures and 5 superlative sentences.

3. Part 1, the students must match the sentence to the picture. Fastest groups get a sticker/whatever reward system you have.

4. Part 2, the students must write down the five countries depicted in the picture. Fastest groups get a sticker.

5. Students are given the five information cards and must choose one of the countries. Two students can`t choose the same country.

6. Students use the picture, superlative sentence and information card to complete a presentation on their chosen country.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

- Students need to use their brains for this because each country varies slightly from the example sentences i.e. It is the world's most powerful waterfall vs He is the world's oldest man  vs China has the world's largest population.

- It takes a bit of time to cut out all of the images and sentences but students really enjoyed the hands-on aspect of the activity.

If you don't have the time to prep, you could definitely fit everything onto an A4 handout.
