Practice the target grammar by asking the class, "How many PENCILS do you have?" and getting individual students to reply using full sentences. Substitute "pencils" for various other objects that may be found in their pencil cases or desks.

Distribute the worksheet. Have students write sentences in Step 1.

Students ask their friends, "How many ~?" questions and note their friends' answers.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

Be sure to give the students an answer for zero. "I have NO rulers," for example.

Remember, always play it safe and check with the teacher when using any activities that include asking students about their families.
