BRIEF
OUTLINE: This is a writing activity where students practice constructing passive voice sentences.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1.  Go over the grammar and hand out the worksheets.
  2.  Students fill out the answers from 1~7. Check answers as a group (optional).
  3.  Students complete step two, Making their own sentences and answers. Check answers as a group (optional).

TIPS/CAUTIONS:

  •  For #7, you'll have to replace the nameplate photo with a picture of a nameplate or pin used by your own school. And replace "Miyauchi JHS" with the name of the nearest neighboring junior high school to yours. Or just delete #7 alltogether.
  • For sentence #3, the Buddha in question is seen in Kamakura. Junior high school students in Kanto should probably be familiar with it. I don't know if students from farther away will know. You may or may not want to enter "Kamakura," yourself, in the appropriate blank of the worksheet for the students.
  •  ***Number 6 mentiones "Beer". Make sure this is ok with the person in charge. ALT's don't usually know the history of the students (or teachers). You never know, so rule on the side of caution and ask someone.***
