BRIEF OUTLINE: The students write a letter, addressed to themselves, to be opened at a later date.  

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Hand out the worksheet and have the students fill it out:
  • My Goals - Students write their goals for their life: what they want to be; where they want to live; what they want to do; etc.
  • My Motto - Students choose a phrase or motto by which they will try to live their life.
  • My Space - Students write freely on any topic they wish to tell their future self.

 

VARIATIONS:

  • This activity could be done with incoming first years to be read upon graduating in their third year, or with third year students to be read upon graduating high-school.

 

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • You may have your students write in English, Japanese, or a combination of both.
