BRIEF OUTLINE: This is another Mario board game that is pretty flexible. You just have to modify the worksheet to make it fit any grammar point. For this version, students write their opinions about certain topics and ask their friends their opinions while playing a fun Mario board game. 

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Tell students that we are going to play a board game, but first they need to fill out a worksheet in order to play the game.
  2. Have students fill out their answers to the questions on the worksheet and help the students who have a difficult time forming opinions. (If you want to, you can do each question together as a class)
  3. Do a demo with your JTE.
  4. Have students make groups and jan-ken after they have finished the worksheet.
  5. The winner rolls the dice and goes that number of spaces.
  6. The spot that they land on will determine what question on their worksheet they will ask to somebody in their group or to a teacher.
    • Q1(2,3,4,5,6) = Ask that numbered question to anybody in your group and have them answer.
    • Q1(2,3,4,5,6) to boy (girl) = Ask that numbered question to the appropriate gendered student in their group and have them answer. (If there isn't a girl or boy in a group, go to a different group and ask the queston to somebody)
    • Q1(2,3,4,5,6) to teacher = Ask the appropriate question to a teacher and have them answer.
    • Go back to start and go back 1,2,3 spots are what they are.

 

VARIATIONS:

  • Make a worksheet with different questions that fit your grammar point.

 

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • Some students have trouble making opinions, so help them along.
  • Change the questions however you want.
