BRIEF
OUTLINEMatch the cards with the 'Why' question to the 'Because' answer, followed by a short interview game.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Give Students cards and put them into pairs.
  2. Students place the cards face down on their desk.
  3. Play janken to see who goes first.
  4. Hand the worksheet out after they already have the cards face down. (This helps keep them from cheating.)
  5. To play, simply flip one card over and read it, then flip another card over and read that one as well. If it's a match, write the answer on the worksheet. Most are fill in the blank, but I left the last one one completely blank. If the match is correct you can keep the cards or just leave them face up. If they don't match, flip them back over and your partner tries to find a pair.

VARIATIONS:
  • Have all the worksheet blank and have them write the answers.
  • More questions for interview game.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • After everyone finished we checked the answers together and went over any new vocabulary. Some kids played multiple times because they enjoyed it so much.
  • Once everyone finished we made our own questions and asked why people liked things. For example:
    Do you like dogs?
    Yes I do.
    Why do you like dogs?
    Because they're cute.
(It's more interesting because they can ask about whatever they want.)
