BRIEF OUTLINE: Students read a series of ten trivia questions in the past passive voice and choose the right answer.

  1. Check the students' understanding of the past passive voice. Review how questions are constructed and show examples on the board.
  2. Pass out copies of the worksheet. Give the students an appropriate amount of time to read the questions and answer.
  3. The ALT/JTE should read the question out loud and if needed provide a translation, depending on the class level. Allow students to raise their hand for yes and no before announcing the correct answer.
  4. To save on research, here are the answers:
    • 1.  Yes
    • 2.  No, Murasaki Shikibu
    • 3.  No, a Brazilian priest displayed first balloon in Portugal (more info)
    • 4.  Yes
    • 5.  No, 17 million ('08) / 13 million ('09)
    • 6.  Yes
    • 7.  No, 1928
    • 8.  No, Rome (more info)
    • 9.  No, Greece
