BRIEF
OUTLINE: This is a worksheet with lyrics to 'Puff (The Magic Dragon)' in English and Japanese. Students must listen and write down corresponding rhyming words to those words listed in the box. The box can be edited to include anything, i.e. simply vocabulary, past tense, etc.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Distribute worksheets.
  2. Play song, have students try to follow along.
  3. Work through lyrics one verse at a time, checking for understanding, discussing any new vocabulary, and meaning.
  4. Listen to song again, have students try to list rhyming words.
  5. Review answers.

VARIATIONS:

  • Past tense forms, i.e. 'live, frolick, call, love' - students must change to past tense and fill in blank.
  • Vocabular, i.e. 'lived, frolicked, called, loved,' or any words you'd like them to learn. Students simply listen and try to identify words in lyrics from a box of terms.
