BRIEF OUTLINEStudents choose a star and go shopping for all the things that their new stardom requires of them.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • ShoppingWithTheStars worksheet
  • Small clothes/accessories cards - not included with this activity but you can find what you're looking for over at MES-English.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Each student receives a card with the star's picture and shopping list.
  2. The JTE and ALT set up shop in the front of the room.
  3. Students form two lines and go shopping for the items on their shopping list. As stars, all of their expenses will be billed to their account, so, don't worry about exchanging money.
  4. When finished, have the students present their new fashion to the class. For example, "Godzilla is wearing a hat made in America, a dress made in Africa, and boots made by Prada."

VARIATIONS:

  • Feel free to include prices if you would like to incorporate money into the lesson.
  • Also, if your students are artistically inclined, feel free to have the students cut and paste their new wardrobe onto their pictures.
