BRIEF OUTLINEStudents write their favorite objects on pieces of paper. After all the papers are collects, students must find their papers by using the target grammar.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Blank cards: You will need six card for each student. You can buy packets from 100 yen shop. They are in bright colors.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Give each student a set of 6 cards. Set a time limit for students to draw and write on the cards. Students draw and write their favorite object on each card. Each card has the  same object on it.
  2. After the ALT/JTL collects the cards and shuffles them, they redistribute the cards, so each student now has 6 cards belonging to different students.
  3. When the JTL or ALT shouts ‘GO!’ the students must find their cards by asking their classmates ‘Do you have ~’. The response is either ‘Yes, I do or No, I don’t’. If the answer is yes, then the student must hand that card to the owner.
  4. After about 10-15mins, the ALT shouts ‘STOP!’ and students must sit down.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

    • Have pre-made cards with objects for a warm-up to cut time.

    TIPS/CAUTIONS:

    • Students may just wander around and shout out their word, and not use the grammar or ANY English. Have some kind of BATSU system for this, like if teachers hear you using Japanese you lose a card
