BRIEF
OUTLINE: This is a sugoroku game that practices answering "What do you ~?" questions.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Place the students in groups
  2. Have the students choose an eraser, magnet, pen cap, etc. to use as a game marker
  3. Play janken or roll the dice to see who goes first
  4. The students roll the dice and move that many spaces.
  5. When a student lands on a question space, the other students will ask them the question.  The student who landed on the space must answer it.
  6. The first player to cross the finish line wins.

VARIATIONS:

  • You can change the rules for who asks the questions from the game board.  The student to the right, student to the left, as a group, and so on.  Alternatively, the student who lands on the question could ask another student of their choice the question.
  • There is a common rule of finishing with an exact number.  For example, if there are 3 spaces before the finish, the student must roll a 3.  If they roll a 4, they must count forward until the finish and then backwards leaving them at the space before the finish line.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • If playing multiple games, be sure to rotate the groups so that the game stays fresh.
