BRIEF
OUTLINE: This is a janken taikai game similar to shinka that practices asking the question "What?" The students janken and the winner moves forward while the loser stays still.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Distribute the worksheet and practice reading and answering the questions.
  2. Demonstrate game play with the JTE or students.
  3. Students begin by making a pair and playing janken.  The winner asks the question and the loser answers. The winner advances to the next question.  The students find new partners.
  4. When a student reaches the end, they come to the ALT for a signature to prove they are finished.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • When signing the student's papers, write their rank next to your signature.  This encourages them to be more competitive.
