BRIEF OUTLINE: Students practice Present Continuous Verbs while completing a worksheet.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. After the JTE provides a grammar point lesson on the board, the ALT pronounces each of the verbs or verb phrases in the toolbox twice with the students repeating each twice in chorus.
  2. The ALT then reads each of the 7 questions with the students repeating each twice in chorus.
  3. The JTE then explains how to complete the worksheet: In order to answer each of the 7 questions the students must choose either "He is" or "She is" in combination with a verb or verb phrase: "He is studying." Each question has a corresponding picture to help the students choose the correct verb or verb phrase.
  4. Once the students have completed the worksheet the ALT chooses volunteers to provides answers.
  5.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • This is a lesson was designed for New Horizon (book 1, unit 9, part 2, p 74-75) but can easily be used with any textbook.
  • Allow no more than 7 minutes (1 minute per question) to complete the worksheet.
