BRIEF
OUTLINE:  It's a three-part activity that starts with the students listening to a dialogue between the JTE and the ALT. Then, they play Bingo and finish off with a writing exercise .

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Start with the listening activity between the JTE and ALT.
  2. Students listen to the conversations and write the answers beside the pictures. The box at the bottom contains possible answers to make the spelling part easier.
  3. Next, move on the "What's This?" interview bingo section. There are two ways to play the game:
    • Version 1: Make a few versions of the worksheet so some students know what some answers are and others don’t. Then to finish up the worksheet they have to interview each other in a blind pair type activity.
    • Version2: Give each student a card, so they will know what one of those objects is and have to find out what the other 14 are.
  4. If time allows, have the students write 4 sentences from the interview bingo answers.

VARIATIONS:

  • It is inevitable that students may cheat and just copy off their friends' pages. The main goal is for students to practice speaking English so it would be a good idea for teachers to hold onto a few of the answers. This way students will have to ask teachers in order to complete the task.
