Brief Outline: An information gap activity which can be played in pairs or a class where students find out what various characters are doing.

Materials Needed:

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Show the students that the worksheets are not the same then ask each other the questions. Use Mickey Mouse and Anpanman as the examples. "What is Mickey doing?" "He is playing baseball." "What is Anpanman doing?" "He is flying." Write the answers on the worksheets.
  2.  Students make pairs and each pair gets a copy of each worksheet.
  3. Complete the activity by having them fill in the answers as they ask the questions and recieve answers.

Variations:

  • A problem that I've often had with information gap activities is that the students just look at each others' worksheets. One solution to this is to divide the class in half and have Worksheet A on one side of the room and Worksheet B on the other. Then select a student to ask the question. The student can choose anyone on the other side of the room to answer. I usually follow this with the entire side chanting the question and the opposing side chanting the answer. This can be fun as the students enjoy making their friends answer the questions and it also gives them a chance to get up from their desks.
