Brief Outline: Students invite each other to do things and write about their friends' plans in this speaking, listening, and writing activity.

 

Materials Needed:

 

Detailed Explanation:

  1. Use flashcards to review days of the week and times of day. Model the dialogue with you JTE and check for comphehension. Give out the worksheet and ask the students to put a cross in one box for each day. This represents the time of day that they are busy (I find it helpful to blow up a copy of the worksheet and use it to demonstrate on the blackboard).
  2. Students must then use the dialogue to find someone to do each of the verbs with them. If a student is asked to do something at a time which they have crossed, they must say no. However, they may suggest another time.
  3. Once students have have found someone for each verb they can begin the writing activity (leave the flashcards on the board to help with spelling). 

 

Teaching Suggestions:

  • This is designed to accompany the dialogue on page 60 of the New Crown 3 textbook but may be useful for other lessons.
