EXAMPLE: The monster thatlives on the corner owns a spider.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Hand out the worksheet and explain that in each plot of land (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc) is a certain creepy building. In that building lives a monster who likes certain foods, and owns certain pets.
  2. Explain the 5 main bits of info they must fill in for each square.
      • Building (Castle, graveyard etc...)
      • Monster (Werewolf, vampire etc...)
      • Name of the monster
      • Their favorite food or drink
      • Their pet

  • Depending on your class skill level you can try to do a listening version only.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • This is fairly advanced for your average JHS or HS class. They may need lots of vocabulary help or dictionaries for the English.
  • If they are stuck logically you can drop some hints to help them out. For example:

  • The 1st letter of the name and monster type are the same.
  • The title holds and important clue.
  • All categories aren't random i.e Witch -> Cat -> Cabin or Vampire -> Bat -> Blood

  • Don't forget to white out or change the date at the top as this was a scan from last year.
