BRIEF OUTLINE: Students ask 9 "Will you ~" and "Shall I ~" questions to different friends while playing trying to move through the questions by playing rock paper scissors.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Students start at the first question and play rock, paper, scissors.
  2. The winner asks the question and the loser completes the action.
  3. The winner then receives the losers signature and moves on to the next question.  The students find new partners and repeat.
  4. When a student finishes all 9 questions, he or she will come to the ALT to receive a bigsignature.

VARIATIONS:

  • Changing the 'Will you~' phrases to 'Could you~' phrases for more practice.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • Be sure to teach 'happy face' and draw one on the board.  ('Nikkochan maaku' not 'ureshii kao')
  • Give the students a numerical rank along with your signature.  This way they can keep track of ranking and be more competitive.
