OUTLINE:  A "set" with two secret messages, each coded in a different way. It might be a good way to have students thinking about the Alphabet.

  1. Part 1 (Secret Christmas Message) can be solved by taking the remaining letters not circled after completing the word search. Answer: "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"

  2. Part 2 (Christmas Code) follows a simple code of 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc. The code is not written on the worksheet because it is fairly simple and some students will be able to solve it on their own. Instead of just telling the students the code, you can try giving them the answer for one word (20-8-9-19 = THIS).

Code spells out the following message:
"This month is December. Christmas is on the twenty-fifth. What do you want for Christmas?"
