BRIEF OUTLINE: Students make up words using the letters given on the worksheet.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • WordMakeUp attachments: Attachments include a Part 1 & Part 2.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Students create words with the letters given inside the circle. This is about a 4-5 minute activity for use when you have some spare time, or an addition to something that you already prepared.

VARIATIONS:

  • You can make this into a timed warm-up, giving stamps or stickers for students with correctly written words. Or you can give a sticker for unique words etc...

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • The focus should be three letter words.

TIPS/CAUTIONS:

  • It's probably best to give this worksheet after summer, giving time for 1st grade to build up their vocabulary.
  • There can be more words other than provided in the answer box.
